Lifetime member, Ed McKinley, of the Michigan Dutch Rabbit Club
passed on September 28, 2020
Janet Bowers, Ed McKinley,
and Carlene Bell
    The Michigan Dutch Rabbit Club
dedicated the 2013 National Dutch Show
in honor of Ed McKinnley and
Tom Dietrich.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of my Father, Edward McKinley.  Below is obituary.

It is worth noting his long career raising Dutch Rabbits first as a youngster in the late 1930 & early 40s, then returning to the hobby with two of his children Ed Jr and Ann in the 1970s. He continued until about 2011  when his health no longer allowed him to participate as he wished to.  I always remember the stories of him putting his prized rabbits in shipping crates and sending them off by train only to learn if they had won or not upon their safe return with the ribbons. We actually used that old shipping crate as a carry cage and some of his old cages during the early years of reestablishing the hobby in the 1970s. Things have come along way.

I just wanted to thank Janet Bowers and Carlene Bell, for their support and great friendship to my Father in those later years of his career. He always appreciated your support and that of the club members when he moved the rabbits from Saginaw to South Lyon and then when he exited the rabbit hobby some 7 years later.

I'm sorry to hear that Carlene has exited the Dutch Rabbit Hobby and wish her and Janet and the Club Members well in the future.

Attached are some pictures that may bring back memories of better days.

Best wishes.

Ed McKinley Jr.
